Glacier National Park is located in the US state of Montana, to the south of the Canadian border of Alberta and British Columbia. The park boasts more than (4,000 km 2) and includes two mountain ranges (sub-ranges of the Rocky Mountains). More than 130 Lake, about 1,000 different species of plants and hundreds of species of animals. This rich ecosystem is the focus of what is referred to as the "crown continental ecosystem", an area of protected land includes 16,000 square miles (41,000 km2). Europeans dominated the island when the arrival of explorers to it but previously was inhabited by Indians. Shortly after the establishment of the park on May 11, 1910, was built a number of hotels and chalets by the Grand Northern Railway. These are historic hotels and chalets as a national historic landmarks.
